Internet // World Wide Web

Internet // World Wide Web

The internet is defined by Britannica, "The Internet is a vast network that connects computers all over the world. Through the Internet, people can share information and communicate from anywhere with an Internet connection." The internet was created by numerous engineers, scientists, etc. The technology that has taken over the world took much thought and programming to get it up and running. Before times of the internet during the 1930s and 1940s, Nikola Tesla thought of the concept and idea of the internet. The idea stepping from a wireless kind of networking system. He was a scientist and visionary for the formation of the internet. The Advanced Research Projects Agency Network, in the early 1960s, created the first prototype of the internet. Due to the internet being a collective initiative, the debate to who truly invented the internet seems vague or different by whom provides the information. The debated inventors are Bob Kahn and Vin Cerf.

The World Wide Wed is defined by Oxford Languages, "an information system on the internet which allows documents to be connected to other documents by hypertext links, enabling the user to search for information by moving from one document to another." The inventor of the World Wide Web is coined to Sir Tim Berners-Lee, a computer scientist. He worked on some of the earliest computers due to his parents involvement in computer science. Berners-Lee was a born in London making him a British computer scientist. He eventually became a software engineer for CERN. He wanted to find a way to connect computers to one another.

The World Wide Web and the Internet are two different entities. While they are both digital, the WWW follows under the creation of the Internet. The internet is a digital connection of commuters. You don't need the WWW to connect computer to computers. From my understanding, that is the difference of the WWW to the Internet.

The first website was establish on August 6, 1991. The man coined for the creation is Tim Berners-Lee.  The website is actually still up to this day.

Introduction

Hi everyone, my name is Meghan Belfi. I'm an Advertisement and Public Relations and Design double major at The University of Tampa. I'm from Long Island, New York, but during the school year, I spend majority of my time in Tampa, Florida. My passion is everything fashion. I love fashion design, buying/selling, fashion advertising and marketing, etc. My goal is to take my education to the fashion world and use that to my benefit in starting my own business, in the future. I recently just got my first job in fashion working as an intern for a boutique down here in Tampa. I got to work my first photoshoot and get behind the scenes experience. It made me realize how much more I want to work closely with fashion.

I hope to get from this class experience and knowledge to benefit me in the real world. During the past few years, I have developed skills in software like the Adobe Suite; however, I'm fully aware that there is still so much for me to learn. A goal of mine is to get more into graphic design and skills related to that. I want to be able to use software like Illustrator to create art. I hope to get back more into things like that. As for overall, I just hope to take away something unexpected from the course. I've found that a majority of my major takeaways from a class is something completely unexpected. I'm excited to see what the class has to offer!
